Gold is an upcoming 2018 Indian Hindi-language historical sports drama film directed by Reema Kagti and produced by Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar under the Excel Entertainment banner. It stars Akshay Kumar, Mouni Roy, Kunal Kapoor, Vineet Kumar Singh, Amit Sadh, Sunny Kaushal. It is a fictional story set on the backdrop of true incidents about India winning its first gold medal in field hockey as a free nation in the 1948 Summer Olympics.

The #Gold film is scheduled to be released in the India on August 15, 2018.

A historical sports drama inspired by India’s first Olympic gold medal. The film traces the “golden era” of Indian hockey through the journey of Tapan Das, a young assistant manager in 1936, who dreams of playing for an independent nation.

The Arjuna Award winner and former Indian national hockey team captain, Sandeep Singh, was signed to train the actors to improve their hockey skills.[4]

Major shooting was done in Yorkshire and The Midlands, England.

Director Reema Kagti said, "It’s a fictional take on what happened. Also, it is not just the golden victory in 1948 we will be looking at, but it will encompass 12 crucial years in India’s history." Principal photography for the film began on 1 July 2017.

On 10 December 2017, Akshay Kumar announced that filming was complete. The teaser for the film was launched on 5 February 2018.
