Reading, imagining and remembering: Using historical fiction at Key Stage 3 and GCSE

Philip Arkinstall, Curriculum Leader for History, Hardenhuish School, Chippenham
Paula Lobo, Key Stage 3 Co-ordinator of History, Bristol Grammar School

How can we ensure that Key Stage 3 and GCSE students retain precise detail from one topic to another and continue to write with accuracy? Find out with this workshop which offers ways to get students reading, imagining and remembering. Philip Arkinstall will be developing ideas on how historical fiction can fire the synapses and aid memory recall. Paula Lobo will be sharing her use of historical fiction with Year 7, in which she builds a class of individual characters to help pupils to remember precise information about medieval social history.
